NACS 2026 and C-Store Screens: Chain RMNs vs Independent Self-Serve

Circle K relaunched Full Circle Media on August 18, 2026 with chain-scale US figures. NACS Show (October 6–9) hosts a session for smaller operators. How independents book screens without copying a chain rate card.

At a Glance

Convenience retail media is having a chain-scale autumn and a trade-show autumn. Those are not the same as an independent store’s booking path.

On August 18, 2026, Alimentation Couche-Tard said Circle K was relaunching Full Circle Media by Circle K, an omnichannel retail media network for convenience and fuel shoppers in the United States, Canada, and Europe. In the United States, the company says the network reaches more than 6,600 Circle K stores, is supported by approximately 2.9 billion annual customer visits, and delivers up to 200 million monthly impressions through fuel-pump media, in-store digital screens, checkout displays, and owned digital (app, Inner Circle loyalty, SMS, and email).

C-Store Dive (August 20, 2026) repeats those US figures from the announcement and notes enhanced targeting, measurement, and omnichannel opportunities. Later September recaps that restate the same relaunch are not new scale evidence.

The NACS Show is listed for October 6–9, 2026 in Las Vegas. The session A Tale of Multiple Media Networks is Thursday, October 8, 2026, 8:00–8:45 a.m. PDT. The abstract is aimed at retailers—including smaller operators—who want to launch or participate in a network.

This post’s angle is the gap: banner RMNs package closed inventory; independent C-stores and ATM hosts still need a way for local brands to book their screens. We do not invent a Take 10 store count or CPM to “match” Circle K.

Who This Is For

Audience Why this briefing matters
Independent and small-chain C-stores You can monetize a screen without cloning a 6,600-store RMN stack.
Local brands and agencies Circle K numbers describe Circle K. Your flight may need named independents.
ATM hosts inside c-stores Pump + checkout + ATM can be three commercial surfaces—or one unused cabinet.
NACS attendees Use the October 8 session as operator education, not as a rate-card download.
Not for Anyone copying Circle K visit or impression figures onto an independent deck.

Planned local flights: self-serve. QR minutes on the screen in front of you: Instant Ads. Host programs: store owners.

What Circle K Said—and What to Attribute

Keep every quantitative claim labeled.

Claim (US, per Couche-Tard August 18, 2026) How to use it
6,600+ Circle K stores Circle K’s US Full Circle reach—not the US C-store universe
~2.9 billion annual customer visits Circle K’s visit claim—not your door count
Up to 200 million monthly impressions Across pump + in-store screens + checkout + owned digital—not “screens only”
Canada and Europe mentioned The relaunch is described as multi-region; the store/visit/impression trio above is the US paragraph

Joell Robinson, Director, Retail Media Network, is quoted on frequency, intent, and multiple engagement points “from the pump to the store and through digital channels.” C-Store Dive adds that a spokesperson called the relaunch a more mature platform, that the Full Circle name was used from February investor-day framing, and that Chief Digital Officer Erica Fortune had called retail media a large global opportunity. Fortune’s $150 billion global remark in that story is her category comment—not a Take 10 TAM and not a US in-store-only figure.

Do not add stores or impressions from secondary blogs that only restate August 18.

NACS: Multiple Networks, Including Smaller Operators

The October 8 session listing says retail media networks are becoming a revenue and marketing tool, with case studies and “how smaller operators can get started.” Speakers listed on the session page include Joell Robinson (Circle K), Tommy Greenberg (Love’s Media Group), Dan Seymour (4Court Media by Dover Fueling Solutions), and Matt Riezman (NexChapter).

That lineup is the tell. The show floor will be full of banner and forecourt media stories. Independents should listen for participation models—joining someone else’s network vs staffing an in-house ad-ops team—not for a universal CPM.

Chain RMN vs Independent / Self-Serve

Chain RMN (e.g. Full Circle as described) Independent self-serve screen
Who sells The banner’s media team / platform Host + network portal
What is bundled Pump, in-store, checkout, app, loyalty, SMS/email (Circle K’s mix) The venues you enable—often a checkout and/or ATM
Who the buyer is Often national CPG and endemic suppliers Local services, nearby restaurants, regional brands
How you start RFP / RMN IO Dates, radius, venue pick, approval
Scale story Banner-owned traffic Trade-area screens you can name

Neither path is “more 2026.” They solve different briefs.

If you are the chain, you already have a closed network story. If you are not, building a clone of Full Circle (loyalty + SMS + 6,600 doors) is the wrong project. Listing a live screen so a dentist two zip codes over can book October is the right-sized project. That is how venues enable self-serve inventory.

Local brands should not assume every high-traffic C-store is inside a banner RMN. Many are not. Search self-serve for enabled venues; if the map is empty, the gap is listing, not “retail media is only for Circle K.”

How Independent Screens Actually Get Bought

  1. Host turns on self-serve for that store or ATM and sets a venue price. No national card appears in this article.
  2. Advertiser uses self-serve or cms.take10media.com/ads, picks dates (≤90 days) and screens, uploads video, and waits for approval.
  3. Shopper-facing QR (optional) keeps Instant Ads on for photos and same-day moments. That is extra dwell-time monetization, not an RMN RFP.

Instant vs planned campaigns: Instant Ads vs self-serve. Checkout creative habits: point-of-decision marketing and QR in-store advertising.

Privacy note: a shared checkout loop is not surveillance pricing. If you are mixing cameras or electronic shelf labels with personalized prices, that is a different statute pile—see retail media privacy on in-store screens and the FTC personalized-pricing briefing.

What This Means Before NACS

  • Attribute Circle K’s 6,600 / 2.9B / 200M line to Circle K. The 200M monthly impressions include digital channels, not only LCDs.
  • Do not invent a matching independent impression number.
  • Use the October 8 session to hear how smaller operators participate—then decide whether you list screens, join a partner network, or both.
  • Keep Instant Ads in the toolkit for consumer minutes. Keep self-serve for brand flights.
  • OEM-CMS monetization (commercial displays joining a marketplace inside a manufacturer CMS) is another 2026 supply story; it is not a C-store RMN. See Samsung VXT Ads / Smartify.

What This Article Is Not

  • Not a Circle K media kit. We do not verify their visits or impressions; we attribute them.
  • Not a new September scale primary. WheelTrade-style recaps are out of scope.
  • Not a Take 10 venue or CPM claim.
  • Not a NACS endorsement or session transcript.
  • Not a claim that independents cannot play. The gap is the reason to list inventory.

Next Steps

Independent hosts: list checkout and ATM screens on store owners / self-serve so local buyers can find you without a banner RMN.

Local brands: book named venues in the portal. If you also need Circle K’s closed network, that is a separate IO with Circle K—not a Take 10 rate card.

Frequently asked questions

What is Full Circle Media by Circle K?▼

Circle K’s parent, Alimentation Couche-Tard, announced on August 18, 2026 that it was relaunching Full Circle Media, an omnichannel retail media network for convenience and fuel shoppers in the United States, Canada, and Europe. US scale figures in that announcement are Circle K’s claims, not industry averages.

How many Circle K stores does Full Circle Media reach?▼

Couche-Tard’s August 18, 2026 release says that in the United States, Full Circle Media reaches more than 6,600 Circle K stores, supported by approximately 2.9 billion annual customer visits, and delivers up to 200 million monthly impressions via pump media, in-store screens, checkout displays, and owned digital channels. Attribute every one of those numbers to Circle K.

When is the NACS Show 2026 retail media session?▼

The NACS Show in Las Vegas is listed for October 6–9, 2026. The session “A Tale of Multiple Media Networks” is Thursday, October 8, 2026, 8:00–8:45 a.m. PDT. Confirm times on nacsshow.com before you travel.

Can an independent convenience store run a retail media network like Circle K?▼

A chain RMN packages pump, in-store, checkout, app, SMS, and loyalty at banner scale. An independent can still monetize a checkout or ATM screen by listing it for self-serve booking or Instant Ads. That is a different product than standing up a 6,600-store ad server.

Should local brands only buy Circle K retail media?▼

If your shoppers live inside that banner’s trade area, a chain RMN can be one line item. If you need named independent C-stores or ATMs near your location, venue-level self-serve is the path that lists those screens. Do not treat Circle K impression claims as your local available inventory.

What is the difference between a chain RMN and self-serve DOOH?▼

A chain RMN sells the retailer’s own closed network—often bundled with loyalty and digital. Self-serve DOOH lets advertisers pick dates and venues on screens a host has enabled for online booking, including stores that are not part of a national banner RMN.

Are Instant Ads the same as Circle K checkout media?▼

No. Instant Ads are QR-driven minutes on one Take 10–enabled screen, usually a photo, after review. Chain checkout media is typically a planned brand placement sold by the RMN. Same idea—screens in a store—different buyer, unit, and moderation path.

Is a September recap of Full Circle Media a new scale claim?▼

No. Later recaps that repeat the August 18 relaunch are not new primary evidence. This post uses the Couche-Tard release and C-Store Dive’s August 20, 2026 report. It does not invent additional stores or impressions.
