Programmatic DOOH Market 2026: What Local Brands Should Do With the Scale News

OAAA Q2 2026 OOH hit $3.16B and DOOH grew 18.5%. VIOOH–Screenverse and verified-CPM deals make DSP buying easier—they do not replace a local self-serve booking path.

At a Glance

Late August 2026 delivered a cluster of scale headlines for digital out-of-home (DOOH). None of them is a local rate card.

On August 18, 2026, the Out of Home Advertising Association of America (OAAA) said US OOH revenue reached $3.16 billion in Q2 2026, up 10.7% year over year—the first quarter above $3 billion. Digital OOH grew 18.5% and accounted for 38.4% of quarterly OOH. Place-based formats grew 19.3%. Local services & amusements grew 10.5%. Financial grew 22.7%.

A week later, Street Fight (August 26, 2026) and Digital Signage Today (August 31, 2026) covered VIOOH’s partnership with Screenverse: Screenverse’s US inventory—more than 38,000 digital screens and over 7.7 billion monthly impressions, per those write-ups—becomes buyable through VIOOH’s programmatic platform. The same Street Fight piece describes Big Happy and Veridooh offering a verified-CPM buy, with payment tied to independently validated plays.

Those stories matter. They do not mean a neighborhood brand should wait for a DSP seat, invent a national CPM, or treat “programmatic access” as the only way onto a checkout or ATM screen. This briefing is for US local advertisers and hosts. It does not clone our older 2026 self-serve DOOH trends post. It does not publish a Take 10 rate card.

Who This Is For

Audience Why this recap matters
Local brands and SMBs Industry growth is real. Your booking path is still named venues, not a $3.16B headline.
Agencies DSP integrations reduce RFP friction for multi-network buys. They do not replace a portal that lists specific C-stores and ATMs.
C-store and ATM hosts More programmatic supply raises the question of how your screen gets bought—OEM marketplace, chain RMN, or independent self-serve.
Not for Anyone treating OAAA or Screenverse figures as Take 10 inventory, impressions, or CPMs.

Planned flights stay on self-serve. Friends and families who want minutes on the screen in front of them use Instant Ads.

What OAAA Actually Reported (Q2 2026)

Cite the August 18 release as industry revenue, not as proof that every local screen is sold out.

As published:

  • Quarterly US OOH: $3.16 billion, +10.7% vs Q2 2025; first quarter above $3 billion.
  • Year-to-date OOH growth: 9.2%.
  • 73% of the top 100 OOH advertisers increased spend vs Q2 2025.
  • Technology and direct-to-consumer brands: 30% of the top 100 spenders.
  • DOOH: +18.5% YoY; 38.4% of quarterly OOH.
  • Format color: transit +23.9%; place-based +19.3%.
  • Industry color: computers, software & internet +149.8%; financial +22.7%; media & advertising +12.6%; local services & amusements +10.5%.

OAAA notes the estimates include digital and static billboards, street furniture, transit, place-based, and cinema, and that the Q2 report does not incorporate product-category or brand cinema data from MediaRadar. Do not flatten those caveats away.

None of those percentages is a Take 10 fill rate, revenue share, or CPM.

Financial-category growth is useful color for ATM operators who host idle loops or toppers. It is not ATM-operator revenue. Pair it with the FDIC idle-ad carve-out if you operate deposit-taking bank machines—official-sign rules and commercial booking are different jobs.

VIOOH × Screenverse: DSP Access, Not a Local Portal

Digital Signage Today reports that VIOOH, a global DOOH supply-side platform, partnered with Screenverse to deliver access to more than 38,000 US digital screens generating over 7.7 billion monthly impressions, per the companies’ release. Markets named in that coverage include New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Washington, D.C., Dallas–Fort Worth, and Philadelphia.

Street Fight adds the operational point: Screenverse aggregates retail, residential, office, transit, entertainment, and healthcare environments so buyers can reach fragmented place-based networks through programmatic workflows instead of separate RFPs. Screenverse’s Montana Accavallo is quoted on making inventory available “through all the pathways our clients prefer to buy.”

Attribute the screen and impression counts to Screenverse / the press coverage. Do not treat them as Take 10 venue counts.

The useful local-brand takeaway is narrower: agencies can buy more US place-based inventory inside a DSP. That is supply-side convenience. It is not a substitute for picking the three ATMs and two checkout screens within a mile of your shop.

Verified CPM Is a Buying Model—Not Our Rate Card

The same Street Fight article describes Big Happy and Veridooh introducing a verified-CPM model (announced August 25, 2026 in that write-up): advertisers pay for plays independently validated by Veridooh. The companies call it a first-of-its-kind DOOH buying model. Street Fight’s point is accountability—tying payment to validated delivery as DOOH competes for digital-video and CTV dollars.

Read that as market architecture, not as a number you should paste into a local insertion order.

Take 10 self-serve quotes are venue-level. There is no public network-wide CPM in this article. How those quotes appear in the portal is in self-serve CPM on C-store and ATM screens. Instant Ads use duration tiers on one screen, not verified CPM.

Do not invent a “verified Take 10 CPM” because Veridooh exists.

Self-Serve / Local vs DSP: Two Jobs

Job Typical buyer What you select Unit you pay
Programmatic / DSP Agency or trading desk Networks, deals, audiences, markets Deal- and verification-dependent (including verified CPM in some products)
Self-serve flight Local brand or small agency Dates (≤90 days), radius/orientation, specific venues The live venue quote in the portal—not a national card
Instant Ads Person at the screen That device, a duration tier, a photo Minutes on one screen after review

Easier programmatic access answers “can I buy a lot of place-based screens the way I buy other digital?” Self-serve answers “can I book these convenience-store and ATM screens this month?” Instant Ads answer “can I put a photo on the screen I am standing in front of?”

Mixing the three in one sentence is how local advertisers end up waiting on a DSP integration they do not need—or expecting a QR photo to run a 90-day brand flight.

How venues get listed for online booking is in how venues enable self-serve inventory. Approval still applies for non-admin advertisers; “minutes / upon approval” is the honest marketing line, not zero-review always-on.

How It Works on Take 10 (Without a Fake Scale Number)

  1. Hosts enable self-serve on venues that should be bookable and set a venue price (for example a self-serve CPM). Empty inventory in a search usually means nearby screens are not enabled yet—not that the national OOH market shrank.
  2. Advertisers open self-serve or the ads portal, pick dates, location, and venues, upload video, and wait for approval.
  3. Impulse buyers skip the campaign wizard. They scan the on-screen QR and use Instant Ads for minutes on that device.

We do not publish a Take 10 screen count, impression total, or national CPM in this post. Older blog posts that used a network-wide venue figure are not a source for this recap.

Samsung VXT Ads / Smartify (commercial displays joining a marketplace inside an OEM CMS) is a different supply story—venue-monetization hardware, not this DSP-scale recap. That belongs in the Samsung VXT / Smartify briefing.

What This Means If You Are Local

  • Use OAAA as demand color, not as your budget. $3.16B is the US OOH industry in one quarter. Your flight is still a handful of venues and a portal quote.
  • Use VIOOH–Screenverse as an agency fact, not as your media plan. If you do not have a DSP seat, you are not late. You are on a different path.
  • Do not wait for verified CPM to “make DOOH real.” Independent verification is one market product. Proof-of-play and venue-level reporting are still how most local hosts and buyers work day to day.
  • Keep Instant Ads and self-serve separate. QR minutes are public creatives on one screen. Brand video is a dated, multi-venue booking.
  • Do not sell “OAAA-certified” or “programmatic-cleared” inventory. OAAA published industry revenue. VIOOH published a supply partnership. Neither certified your store.

Retail-media consolidation (chain RMNs, in-store acquisitions) is the other late-August cluster. See NACS / Circle K Full Circle vs independent screens and Perion’s PRN acquisition.

What This Article Is Not

  • Not a second DOOH-trends essay. The live trends post stays the evergreen explainer. This is a sourced late-August 2026 recap.
  • Not a Take 10 rate card. No invented CPM, fill rate, or venue count.
  • Not Screenverse inventory. 38,000+ screens and 7.7B monthly impressions are attributed to Screenverse / press, not to this network.
  • Not a Q2-growth twin or a verified-CPM product post. Those aliases map here on purpose so we do not flood the blog with the same cluster.
  • Not legal or investment advice.

Next Steps

Local brands who want named convenience-store and ATM screens should start at self-serve and compare live venue quotes—not a national index.

Hosts who want those buyers to find them should list inventory, as in how venues enable self-serve inventory.

People at the screen who want a photo up for a few minutes should use Instant Ads.

Frequently asked questions

What is the programmatic DOOH market in 2026 for local brands?▼

OAAA’s Q2 2026 release puts US out-of-home at $3.16 billion, up 10.7% year over year, with digital OOH up 18.5% and 38.4% of quarterly OOH. That is industry revenue, not a Take 10 rate card. Local brands still book venue-level flights; DSP scale is a different buying path.

How much did US out-of-home grow in Q2 2026?▼

The Out of Home Advertising Association of America reported Q2 2026 US OOH revenue of $3.16 billion, up 10.7% from Q2 2025—the first quarter above $3 billion. Year-to-date growth was 9.2%. Those figures come from OAAA’s August 18, 2026 release.

What is the VIOOH Screenverse programmatic DOOH partnership?▼

Digital Signage Today (August 31, 2026) and Street Fight (August 26, 2026) report that VIOOH partnered with Screenverse to make Screenverse’s US inventory available through VIOOH’s programmatic platform. Screenverse and the coverage cite more than 38,000 digital screens and over 7.7 billion monthly impressions. Those are their network claims, not Take 10 inventory.

What is a verified CPM in digital out-of-home?▼

Street Fight describes a Big Happy and Veridooh model, announced around August 25, 2026, in which US advertisers can buy DOOH on a verified-CPM basis and pay for plays independently validated by Veridooh. It is one commercial model in the market. Take 10 does not publish a network-wide CPM here.

Does programmatic DOOH replace self-serve screen booking?▼

No. Programmatic supply-side integrations let agencies buy aggregated place-based inventory through DSPs they already use. Self-serve booking lets a local brand pick dates, radius, and specific venues in a portal. Easier DSP access does not replace that path.

Is Take 10 Media a DSP for programmatic DOOH?▼

Take 10 Media is a US convenience-store and ATM screen network with a self-serve booking portal for planned flights and Instant Ads for QR minutes on one screen. This article does not claim DSP seat access, a national CPM, or Screenverse-scale inventory.

Should a local brand buy DOOH through a DSP or self-serve?▼

If you already trade OOH inside an agency DSP and need multi-network reach, programmatic pathways like the VIOOH–Screenverse hookup are built for that workflow. If you want named C-store or ATM venues near your trade area, use venue-level self-serve and read the live quote in the portal.

Do Instant Ads use programmatic CPM?▼

No. Instant Ads buy minutes on the screen in front of you after a QR scan—usually a photo—not a CPM flight across a DSP. Planned brand video stays on self-serve. Price is the live duration quote, not a market index.
